I was welcomed like a member of the family. The grilled chicken quesadillas were prepared perfectly with just the right amount of cheese to chicken ratio. The salsa was homemade and delicious - just the way I like it. The guacamole was a little creamier than I usually prefer (like maybe they mixed in sour cream) but it was still flavorful and a nice compliment to my quesadilla. Finally, I ordered a side of refried beans and all I can say is YUM! They come a close 2nd to what my friends refer & I refer to as "crack beans" at a little hole-in-the-wall place in Fort Worth. I CRAVE them! Overall, I'm super stoked I came across this gem. (They even brewed me unsweet tea!) Nice people, good food, and a telenovela on the tv - this place is legit.

This is the real deal. I haven't had real Mexican Mariscos cuisine in decades! I ordered 4 tacos: 2 steak (asada), and 2 cow tongue (lengua.) DELICIOUS! well seasoned and so tender! not to mention the handmade tortillas! reminded me of my grandmother's. I also had 2 tostadas de pulpo y camaron (octopus and shrimp.) AMAZING! true Coastal Mexican/South Californian style food. the service was perfect. the salsa de tomatillo was great, and the regular salsa. I will definitely be coming back when I go to Atlanta. ps. I only ate one tostada, my date ate the other one lol

I rate all locations based on the quality of food served. For reasons such as this. The inside is open and bare... But with that out of the way. Lets get to the real reason of the review. The food! Its great Mexican food with the authentic flavors to back it. In house made tortillas is another note I really liked about this place. I ordered tacos, which had great flavor along with a flavored water.. If your bored ask to try one and get outside of your comfort zone. You won't be disappointed. Get past the decor and enjoy a worth while meal :) thanks for the service and great food!

My husband and I just left after eating lunch there. Wow! We each got 5 tacos, Mexican style (with cilantro and onions) but on the homemade flour tortillas. The quality of the meat is excellent from the chicken to the carnitas to the lengua. We got there right after lunch rush so the restaurant was empty; the waitress was very friendly and professional. Our food came out fast and it was hot and fresh. We ate tacos until we were physically uncomfortably full and then a little more. We will definitely be back. If you like unpretentious, homemade, well-seasoned food then I highly recommend stopping here

Service was absolutely great. When you first sit down, they'll give you a bowl of rice soup and chips and salsa. Then, they'll take your drink order while you look over the menu. This is a big restaurant and pretty busy during lunch hours. If it weren't for yelp, I would never have found this place. They're chicken here is the best I've tasted in town. Definitely would come back. If you haven't, you should give them a try.

It is a mom and pop restaurant. The place is huge and the serve staff is wonderful. I didn't really care for the food.

A hidden gem in Forest Park! Food is fresh, delicious and made to order. Service is excellent and I give them kudos for their customer service and patience. I saw an unreasonable customer send back their food two times, but they still delivered service with a smile. Check them out!

Best Mexican food around, hands down. They make their own tortillas and serve portions large enough to fill you twice. The kicker is definitely the price, well worth it.

Small place with great food. It was late in the evening but the service was good and the food excellent. The salsa bar had some good stuff on it. I would go back again if I'm in town.

So went back again 2 days ago and the day before and as always the food was great. I now know exactly how to communicate what I want ommited from an item. The freshness of the products here is amazing and I have no words except, I'll be back since I can't seem to stop craving it at least twice a week. I go in and forget to check in because I am in a hurry to get back to my car for take out, so I can go home and chow down. I still have not tried the milkshake but if I do I will definitely update.

This is a cool spot. The carne asada is tender and the tortillas are fresh. I was surprised by the high quality of the chicken flautas, they were the best I've had in Atlanta so far. I would definitely hit this spot up again and try the enchiladas.

So I just moved here from Los Angeles 1 month ago and as an LA native, I could only go so long without REAL Mexican food. I decided to try this place based on the reviews and the first time I went I was coldly greeted by a young woman who seemed annoyed by my request for "street tacos". She flipped to the back of the menu, said "these are our tacos" and walked away. I ordered carne asada tacos with corn tortillas (idk why anyone would ever get flour but whatevs), I was slightly annoyed that they didn't have fountain drinks. However, I picked one up at a nearby fast food spot. The tacos reminded me of home and that's what I came for so ... Poor customer service and lack of fountain drinks aside, I decided this would be my new taco spot (I'm not prepared to try anything else yet). Anyway, I went back today .. Same girl, same stank ass attitude. However, the tacos were even better than the first time so I will continue to return .. Hopefully one of these days she actually smiles or says hello. Heffa.

Let me say I am a Mexican from San Diego, California and have been living in North Carolina for two years. This place has the best Mexican food I have found since moving to this side of country. Now I just wish it was located near my home. Next time I am here for work this is my first stop!

Incredibly tasty food, prepared very well. We've tried several things on the menu and they have all been winners! I love their sopes. Our server suggested a sope with tripe and it was awesome! We eat here often, you can't go wrong giving them a try.

El Rio Grande Taqueria y Marisqueria is tucked away in the corner of a nondescript shopping center on Jonesboro road. The interior is spacious if not a bit austere but a quick look through their expansive menu tells you that at this place it's all about the food. As a marisqueria, the selection is large with more than 20 seafood dishes including time-honored favorites like vuelve a la vida, caldo 7 mares, and various preparations of mojarra, etc. Additionally there are intriguing shrimp dishes and Michoacán influenced entrees that more than pique enough interest for a repeat visit. If you're thirsty they have the inner circle of Mexican beers in addition to agua frescas, Mexican coke, and even homemade milkshakes. Since the menu at El Rio Grande is so large, I opted for a combo platter with a taco, an enchilada (still my measuring stick for Mexican restaurants), and a tamale (another good measuring stick). The beans were creamy and cooked perfectly without being too heavy and the rice was fluffy and fragrant. I was a little disappointed that the taco came on a store bought tortilla but there's no point in splitting hairs over that. The tamale was large and filled with thin tendrils of pork stained red by a liberal coating of achiote and spices. The star of the show was the enchilada, or more specifically, the sauce. The slightly smoky and sweet flavor of the chilies blended together into an enchilada sauce that I can say without a moment of hesitation is the best I have had in the city of Atlanta. It honestly is among the best I have tried anywhere. El Rio Grande is rock solid. Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
